After a life of love and quiet grace, Charles H. Stratton, 87, has passed.

The story begins in 1929, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

Charles held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

The bonds of those who served beside him are bonds that time does not loosen.

Charles Stratton, 87 of Parker, SD died Friday, March 3, 2017 at Rosemont Assisted Living Center in Rosemont, MN. Memorial services will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church in Parker with burial in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Charles H. Stratton was born on April 21, 1929 at Chester, SD to Howard and Bernice (Cline) Stratton. He moved with his family to Marion, SD in 1941 and graduated from Marion High School. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. On August 6, 1950 he was united in marriage to Grace Schmidt at Parker, SD. They built a new home in Parker where he owned and operated Charles Stratton Ford Garage for 37 years, retiring in 1993. Charles had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling in their motorhome. For several years they enjoyed being snowbirds in Arizona. Charles was very active and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Parker Masonic Lodge, Yankton Consistory, El Riad Shrine, Parker Flyvvers, Parker Fire Department, Par Mar Valley Country Club, Parker Commercial Club, Turner County Crow Hunt, and the American Legion. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Grace; son Michael, Eugene, OR; a daughter Michelle (Loren) Munns, Apple Valley, MN; a grandson Mike (Stephanie) Munns, Apple Valley, MN; 2 great grandchildren Max and Heidi; a brother Jerry (Germaine) Stratton, Marion; a sister Katie (Marion) Nugteren, Paw Paw, MI, and a brother in law Dr. Gene Dressler, Wagner, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Elizabeth, brother Roger and Ardis Stratton, sisters Gertrude Dressler, Joyce and Bud Yopp, and Dee and Don Dalke.
