It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Ardis L. Knudsen, 94, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
Behind every name is a life, and behind every life are the people who loved it.
Ardis entered this world in 1923 — the start of a journey that would span 95 years.
Ardis held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
The traditions Ardis loved will continue to hold those she loved.
Ardis Knudsen of Viborg, SD, passed away Sunday morning, April 22, 2018 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital at the age of 94.Ardis Lucille (Lauridsen) Knudsen was born May 27, 1923. She lived in Viborg her entire life and was united in marriage to Walter "Wally" L. Knudsen on June 21, 1946. To this union was born two sons, Steve and Carlin Knudsen. She was very active in her home church of Our Saviors Lutheran from teaching Sunday school, quilting, and activities with the Ladies Aid. In addition, she was a member of Eastern Star for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Lilly Lauridsen, her husband Wally, and her sister Bernice Fisk. Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Steve (Peg) and Carlin (Joanie), four grandchildren; Erik, S. Doug, Janel, and Kyle, and four great grandchildren; Annika, Emily, Evan, and Isaac. She will be remembered 10:30am Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her funeral service at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Viborg, preceded by a visitation beginning at 9:30am.
