Clarence H. Thill, 97,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved him dearly.

Behind every name is a life, and behind every life are the people who loved it.

Born in 1918, Clarence began a life that would touch many along the way.

Clarence held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

The community of faith holds its own well — and Clarence was held.

Clarence Thill, 97 died Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am Thursday, September 17, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Marion with burial at St. Joseph's Wellington Catholic Cemetery, rural Humboldt. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm Wednesday at the Tieszen Memorial Home Chapel, Marion with a Scripture Service at 7:30pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Clarence Henry Thill was born on March 18, 1918 at Parkston, SD to Frank and Rose (Hohn) Thill. He grew up and attended school at Parkston before serving in the US Army during WW II. He entered the service in 1941 and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands and later spent eight months in Germany, having been discharged in 1945. On February 7, 1947 he was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Beck at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Wellington. They farmed near Monroe until their retirement. They were residents of the Tieszen Home for the past several years. His wife Dorothy died in 2004. He was a member of the Parker VFW Post 2821, St. Christina's Catholic Church, Parker and St. Mary's Catholic Church since living in Marion. In 2010 he was a member of the South Dakota Honor Flight to Washington, DC. Grateful for sharing his life are his fellow residents and staff of the Tieszen Home and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and four brothers.
