It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Julie Andersen, 69, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.

Here is a glimpse of the life she lived, in her family's own remembrance.

Julie entered this world in 1952 — the start of a journey that would span 70 years.

Julie spent her working life as ['the convenience store and also the Menno Olivet Care Center'] and held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Few who serve speak of it freely; those who knew her understood.

Julie Andersen, 69 of Harrisburg died Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30am Thursday, April 7, 2022 at St. Christina Catholic Church, Parker with burial at the Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Wednesday evening at the Heritage Funeral Home, 57 th and MN Ave, Sioux Falls. Julie Ann Wingert was born on May 20, 1952 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls to Julius and Betty (Biever) Wingert. She grew up in Parker where she attended St. Christina Catholic Church and graduated from Parker High School in 1970. On October 17, 1970 she was united in marriage to Leroy Andersen. To this union their son Andrew was born. While her husband served in the US Navy they lived across the US where she worked in the base daycare. Her husband Leroy died in 1979. She lived in Parker for a number of years where she was employed as a teller for Home Federal Bank. For over 20 years she lived in Menno where she worked at the convenience store and also the Menno Olivet Care Center. The past couple of years she has lived in Harrisburg to be closer to family. Julie was a very giving and nurturing person to anyone she met. She loved and cherished the friendships she made with her neighbors and with her co-workers. She had a special love for her dog Dakota which was seen on a daily basis. While living in Parker she was involved in the altar society and for many years she was active in the VFW Auxiliary. Grateful for having shared her life are her son Andy of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law Renae Wingert of Harrisburg, a brother-in-law, Jim Barr, Naples, FL., her nephew, nieces and great nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, nephew Ethan, her sister Pauline, and brothers Derald and Jim.
