It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Marie Elliot, 75, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
These are the contours of a life that meant a great deal to many.
The story begins in 1943, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.
Marie held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Faith is the language some lives are written in. Marie's was one.
Marie Elliot, 75 died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Sanford USD Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 4:00pm Friday, April 27, 2018 at Grace Lutheran Church, Parker with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8pm Thursday evening at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Marie Emma was born on March 10, 1943 at Emery, SD to John and Alvina (Langle) Stubbe. She grew up at Monroe where she graduated from Monroe High School. On March 25, 1964 she was united in marriage to Bob Elliot at Parker. They lived at Parker where she was a longtime child care provider. Over the years she took in and raised many foster children. Grateful for having shared her life are her children Patti Elliot Sullivan, Sioux Falls, Duane (Debbie) Elliot, Vermillion, and Jeremy Elliot, Sioux Falls; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and a sister Karolyn Cundy, Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2016, a son Tim, a grandson Tanner, and a brother Dennis.
