Marvel J. Morrison, 85,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

Below, the family shares some of what made her life meaningful.

Born in 1933, Marvel began a life that would touch many along the way.

Marvel held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

The community of faith holds its own well — and Marvel was held.

Marvel J. Morrison Marvel J. Morrison, 85 of Viborg, SD died Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm Friday, August 23, 2019 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Viborg with burial at the Baptist Cemetery, Viborg. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Viborg with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Marvel Joyce Madsen was born on October 7, 1933 near Irene, SD to Edward and Anna (Westegaard) Madsen. As a child her family moved into Viborg where she graduated from Viborg High School in 1951. On February 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to Gerald Morrison at Yankton, SD. They lived in Viborg where she worked in the school cafeteria for 32 years and she also was employed at Pioneer Memorial as a CNA. After having been baptized at the Spring Valley Lutheran Church she was confirmed and a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was active in the community and was on the Danish Days Committee, member of the Viborg Ambulance, and secretary for the Baptist Cemetery. In 2018 she was crowned royalty as Dronning "Queen" at Danish Days, the oldest 100% Dane in attendance. Grateful for having shared her life are 3 children, Pam (Ray) Hofman, Vermillion, Tim (Diana) Morrison, St. Louis, MO, and Jill (Mark) Mortenson, Minneapolis, MN; 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 9 step great grandchildren; a sister Maxine Brockmueller, Viborg; and a brother in law, Donald Jorgensen, Viborg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald in 1995, and sisters Arlene and Arlis.
