It is with sorrow and gratitude that we mark the passing of Muriel R. Koller, 85, — sorrow at the loss, gratitude for the life.
Below, the family shares some of what made her life meaningful.
The story begins in 1931, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.
Muriel held deeply to the Baptist faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.
Faith is the language some lives are written in. Muriel's was one.
Muriel Rae Koller, age 85, died Monday, November 7, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church, Parker. Burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis at a later date. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Muriel was born on February 20, 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Clarence and Francis Baer. She married John Koller Jr. on August 13, 1949. They made their home in Parker, SD where they raised a family of 10 children. Muriel enjoyed reading, so much in fact, that you would be hard pressed to find a book in the Parker Public Library that doesn't have her name on the card. She also enjoyed coffee time with her Washington Street friends, word searches, and crafts too many to mention. But above all was her love for her family and grandchildren. She always felt so blessed by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were so precious to her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, John. Grateful for having shared her life are: Gregory Koller, Marion, SD, Steve and (Beverly) Koller, Lancaster, CA, Wendy and (Dave) Danger, Plymouth, MN, Kris and (Frank) Vukelich, Long Lake, MN, Garth and (Linda) Koller, San Marcos, CA, Kathy and (Jeff) Petersen, Harrisburg, SD, Kaye and (Bob) Schrag, Marion, SD, Kara and (Brian) Quall, Canton, SD, Leigh and (Bruce) Krumbach, Parker, SD, and Stacey and (Derik) Hazen of Parker, SD; 25 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
