Ellen held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Ellen L. Unzicker, 92 died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the Centerville Care Center. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7pm Tuesday evening at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Ellen L. Unzicker was born on April 30, 1926 at Vermillion, SD to Harry and Ellen (McAllister) Austin. Due to the death of her mother after her birth she was raised by her grandparents at Centerville where she graduated from Centerville High School. On August 1, 1945 she was united in marriage to Lowell Unzicker at Spencer, SD. After their marriage they moved to Sioux Falls, where they had three children. She was a very active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church including teaching Sunday School and Confirmation. They were also members of the Fellows of Augustana, she was active in the Sioux Valley Auxilary, and Reach for Recovery Cancer Support Group. Her husband Lowell died in 2005. Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 children, Cynthia Hultner, Chaska, MN, David (Judy) Unzicker, Sioux Falls, and Rev. Steven Unzicker, Viborg; 5 grandchildren, Kristopher, Kara, David, Katie and Sarah; a great grandchild Sophia; and a sister JoAnn Larson, Indianola, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son in law Charles Hultner, and a sister Glennys Peterson.
