Born in 1937, Esther began a life that would touch many along the way.
Esther was witness to a great deal of change — and shaped some of it.
Esther Polley, 85 of Sioux Falls, formerly of Hurley, passed away on October 30, 2022 at the Centerville Care and Rehab Center in Centerville. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home. Arrangements provided by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. Esther Marie Polley was born on July 28, 1937 at the Moe Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD to Jess and Palma (Larsen) Sanborn. She grew up at Hurley where she graduated from Hurley High School in 1955. After having worked at Nelson's Store in Hurley she was united in marriage to Dean Polley on June 26, 1960 at Hurley. They moved to Sioux Falls shortly after they where married. Her husband Dean died in 1987. For 16 years she was a companion to Joe Holzbauer of Wagner, SD, he died in 2016. Her interest included bowling, she was the secretary of the league, playing cards at the Active Generations, and making blankets and knitting hats for kids in the hospital that were distributed by the Salvation Army. Her greatest love was attending her granddaughters events which she rarely missed. Grateful for having shared her life are 2 daughters, Lisa (Leland) Bourget, Sioux Falls and Shari Kaiser (Ron Nelsen), Dell Rapids, SD; and her granddaughter Brooke, Dell Rapids, SD.
