After a life of love and quiet grace, Janet L. Hansen, 81, has passed.

Here is what we wish the world to know of Janet.

Janet entered this world in 1936 — the start of a journey that would span 82 years.

Janet spent her working life as ['Sioux Steel and John Morrell and Co'] and held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Those who live by belief leave a different kind of mark.

Janet L. Hansen, 81 of Viborg died Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral services will be at 10:00am Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Viborg. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 5-7pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm at the church. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Janet Lee Foelker Hansen was born on October 31, 1936 at Sioux Falls, SD to Elmer and Blanche (Hemphill) Foelker. She attended Joy Country School and graduated from Centerville High School in 1954. She then worked for Sioux Steel and John Morrell and Co. in Sioux Falls in the secretarial offices. Janet met the love of her life at the Gaddis Roller Skating Rink in Viborg. On April 10, 1955 she was united in marriage to Allen N. Hansen at the Federated UCC Church in Centerville. To this union two children were born, Craig Allen and Janine Sue. Janet had a love of flowers and plants. Her "Flowers and Greens" business on the family farm had it's beginning with one small houseplant in 1976, never dreaming it would blossom into a blooming family business of 37 years. She designed flowers for all occasions; weddings (over 400), proms, graduations, new babies, Valentine's and Mother's Day, get well, funerals and countless "I'm in the Dog House" bouquets. Janet resided on the Misty View Longhorn Ranch and helped continue the raising of Longhorns started by Allen and Craig in 1989. Cattle were always an important part of her farm wife life. But the most dreaded words to be heard were: "The Cows are Out." She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Viborg. Grateful for having shared her life are her 2 children, Craig Allen (Dee) Hansen, Irene and Janine Sue (Merlin) Pfeifer, Devils Lake, ND; 2 grandchildren, Debra Hansen (fiancé Kevin Miller) and Bradley (Rebecca) Pfeifer; 2 great grandchildren Benson and Beau Pfeifer; cousins and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband Allen on October 28, 2013, her brother Robert Foelker, and a nephew Bruce Foelker.
