Jean Gregersen, 96,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

What follows is written with love, by those who knew her best.

Born in 1925, Jean began a life that would touch many along the way.

Jean held deeply to the Lutheran faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

The community of faith holds its own well — and Jean was held.

Jean Marie Gregersen, daughter of Felix and Ella (Kraemer) Geide was born December 1, 1925, in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1943 and obtained a country teaching certificate from Madison State College. She taught country school for 1 year. Jean was introduced to Gudmund Anderson through a cousin while dancing at the Arkota Ballroom in Sioux Falls. A beautiful dance couple, they were married at Trinity Lutheran Church on June 24, 1951. They settled in Tacoma, WA and later moved to Northern California, living in Loomis and Penryn. They were married for 28 years and blessed with 2 children. Upon her return to South Dakota, Jean worked as a switch board operator at the VA Hospital for 12 years. She was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. On December 2, 1983, she married Lester Gregersen and they eventually settled on the Geide farm in Hartford. For the last five years, Jean has lived in Louisville, CO near her daughter. Jean was a sharp dresser and always wanted to look her best when she went out. She enjoyed gardening, animals (especially her "kitties"), a clean house and playing cards with family and friends. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her grandkids. She is survived by her brother Earle Geide and sister Donna Rae Vogt; her children Lana Anderson Penczek and Miles Anderson; and grandchildren Lachlan Anderson, Evan Penczek and Neave Anderson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is proceeded in death by her parents; sisters Ruth Arends, Lila Mae Anderson, infant brother Clair, and her first and second husbands. Memorial services will be at 10:30am Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 46448 263rd Street, rural Hartford, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartford, SD.
