Kaye Hawley, 71,, has passed away, leaving behind a family and community who loved her dearly.

What follows is written with love, by those who knew her best.

Born in 1944, Kaye began a life that would touch many along the way.

Kaye spent her working life as ['Lewis Drug'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

Kaye's children carry forward what was given to them.

Kaye Hawley, 71. of Sioux Falls died Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Friday, February 12, 2016 at Linwood Wesleyan Church, Sioux Falls with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7pm Thursday evening at Heritage Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Carolyn Kaye Otten was born on February 20, 1944 at Parker, SD to Harley and Katie (Mamminga) Otten. She attended school at Parker before moving with her family to Arizona and then to Belmond, Iowa where she graduated from Belmond High School in 1962. On June 29, 1963 she was united in marriage to Larry Hawley at Belmond, Iowa. They lived in Webster City, Iowa 7 years until moving to Sioux Falls where they have lived the last 45 years. She had been employed by Lewis Drug, had her own home daycare, and CNA Surety until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of Linwood Wesleyan Church, loved playing card games, and enjoyed her girls night out group. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Larry; 3 children, Darin (Brenda), Lino Lakes, MN, Shelly (Kevin Larson), Floodwood, MN, and Jason (Jocelyn), Sioux Falls; 4 grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Coleton, and Madelyn; a brother and 2 sisters, Dennis (Anita) Otten, Sioux Falls, Dolly Beyer, Sioux Falls, and Barbara Freiberg, Apache Junction, AZ; and 21 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in law Larry Beyer.
