Born in 1922, Kenneth began a life that would touch many along the way.

Kenneth held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Faith gave Kenneth a place to stand, and a place to return to.

Kenneth "Kenny" Dains, 96 died Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am Friday, December 27, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sioux Falls with burial at St. Christina Catholic Cemetery in Parker. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:00pm Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home, 57th and Minnesota, Sioux Falls with a Scripture Service/Rosary said at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Kenneth Thomas Dains was born December 29, 1922 in Marion, SD to Earl H. and Elizabeth (Behrendt) Dains. He was raised in Marion and graduated from Marion High School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Army Air Force on May 28, 1943 and served as a B-29 airplane and engine mechanic. He was honorably discharged on February 16, 1946. Kenny was united in marriage to Rosemary Teresa Ruppert on February 10, 1951 in Sioux Falls, SD. Kenny chose plumbing as a career and was a proud member of the local Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union. He was involved in the construction on the Big Bend Dam on the Missouri River. He later became a plumbing inspector for the City of Sioux Falls. Kenny was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; sons, Tom (Kathy) Dains, Sioux Falls, SD, Jeff (Anna) Dains, Roseville, MN; daughter, Cindy (Ted) Thie, Sioux Falls, SD; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Thie, Jordan Thie, Olivia Dains and Colin Dains; one sister, Geri Dains, one sister-in-law, Ramona Hybertson and many nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary Rose, his parents, siblings and their spouses, Alva (Vivian) Dains, Vernon "Bruz" Dains, Earl Jr. (Evelyn Dains, Donald (Gwen) Dains, Marvin (Helen) Dains, Darlyne Dains, Nadine (Pat) Dirks, Noreen "Dolly" (Eugene) Ortman.
