Phyllis M. Schmidt, 84 of Parker died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Private family services will be held at a later date with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Phyllis Muriel Almond was born on May 25, 1931 at Parker, SD to Alvin and Vera (Menholt) Almond. She grew up at Parker where she attended school before being united in marriage to Calvin Schmidt on July 22, 1948 at Windom, MN. They lived in Parker where she was the bookkeeper for their construction company, Cal Schmidt Construction for over 40 years, they retired in 1990. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, they lived to hunt, fish, and travel in their motor home, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and baking. She was preceded in death by her husband Cal. Grateful for having shared her life are three children, Wendy (Bruce) Hansen, Parker, Kevin Schmidt, Sioux Center, IA, and Danon Wildeboer, Lennox; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; a brother Dick (Ann) Almond, Parker and a sister in law, Nancy Almond. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cal, and a brother Alvin.
