The family of Gary Hansen, 79, announces his passing, and invites all who knew him to remember him here.

These few paragraphs cannot hold a life, but they may carry a memory.

Born in 1942, Gary began a life that would touch many along the way.

Gary held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Faith gave Gary a place to stand, and a place to return to.

Gary E. Hansen Hurley, South Dakota Gary Eugene Hansen born July 16, 1942, passed away of heart disease on May 1, 2022, at the age of 79 years. He was a teacher, administrator, and farmer. Gary is survived by his wife Karen (Knutson) Hansen; son Travis (Heidi), Lainey, and Sawyer; daughter Trina (Andy) Merideth, Brody, and Braxton; son Trevor (Mary), Adyson, Bergen, and Camryn; his sister Gayle (Jim) Halverson; brother in law Todd (Sandy) Knutson, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine (Hummel) and Carl W. Hansen. Special people in his life were 20 year golf partner Paul Walton, sports fanatic Jerry Kleinsasser, Onida's Joe and Dorothy Lamb, the 3 Rand boys, dear friends and neighbors. A special thank you to Freeman's Dr. Hafiz and Dr. Kirton, nurses, and staff. Committal Service will be at The Hurley Cemetery on Saturday, May 7, at 10:00 a.m. Coffee and cookies to follow at the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Hurley. Thank you to all who visited and supported Gary's life. Blessed be his memory.
