Minerva Morris, 86, has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved her.

Minerva Morris, 86 of Parker, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls. Funeral mass will be at 10:30am Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Christina Catholic Church, Parker with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5:00pm Friday at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Visitation with family present will begin at 6:00pm Friday at the church with a Scripture Service to be said at 7:30pm. Minerva Mary Petersen was born on October 31, 1929 in Turner County, SD to Fred and Gladys (Nowstrup) Petersen. As a child she moved with her family to the Parker area where she graduated from Parker High School in 1947. On May 24, 1952 she was united in marriage to Francis Morris at Parker. They lived in Parker where over the years she helped her husband with bookwork and was employed at the Turner County Courthouse. She was a member of St. Christina Catholic Church, enjoyed reading and playing bridge. Grateful for having shared her life are her 4 children, Thomas (Lori), Dell Rapids, Wanda (Doug) Steward, Lennox, Paula (Marvin) Miller and Renee Jans, all of Parker; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; and a brother Paul Petersen, Santa Barbara, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis in 2012, a grandson Aaron, a sister Joanne, and 4 brothers, Pete, Frisco, Gilbert, and Micky.
