After a life of love and quiet grace, Anthon J. Begeman, 85, has passed.

What follows is not the whole story, but a thread of it.

The story begins in 1928, with the arrival of a life that would be cherished by many.

The bonds of those who served beside him are bonds that time does not loosen.

Anthon J. Begeman, 85 died Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at First Reformed Church, Monroe with burial in the Monroe Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-3pm Sunday at the Tieszen Home and with family present from 6-8pm Monday evening at Hofmeister Jones Funeral Chapel, Marion. Anthon Johan Begeman was born on June 24, 1928 near Parker, SD to Chris and Anna (Hoekman) Begeman. He grew up in the Parker area and served in the US Army for 2 years . He was united in marriage to Mary Woltzen and to this union 5 children were born, Ivan, Linda, Terry, Hope, and Ray. He farmed in the Parker and Monroe area, retiring in 1993. He was united in marriage to Nancy Callahan and to this union a son was born, Daniel. He was a member of First Reformed Church, played several musical instruments, and volunteered to play at many nursing homes in the area. Grateful for having shared his life are his 6 children, Ivan (Marsha), Linda (Ed) Luke, Hope (Todd) Obele, all of Marion, Terry (Ann), Spanaway, WA, Ray (Nickie), Belview, NE and Daniel, Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers Peter, Parker and John, Monroe; and a sister Martha Jean Hietbrink, Worthington, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred and Chris Jr, and sisters Marie and Cordene.
