The slow accumulation of a full life leaves much to remember and much to learn from.
Monroe. Art Nugteren, 94 died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Funeral services will be at 10:30am Monday, August 5, 2013 at the Calvary Reformed Church, Monroe with burial at Rosehill Cemetery, Parker. Visitation with family present will be from 6-8:00pm Sunday at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home, Parker with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30pm Sunday at the Tieszen Memorial Home, Marion. Arthur Nugteren was born on August 31, 1918 near Colton, SD to Adrian "Joe" and Mary (Vanderlugt) Nugteren. On October 2, 1941 he was united in marriage to Margaret Langerock at Monroe, SD. They farmed in the Monroe area until retiring and moving into Monroe. His wife died in 2005. He was a member of Calvary Reformed Church. Grateful for having shared his life are 2 daughters, Sandi Kasten, Sioux Falls, and Pam Rodgers (Paul), Tea, SD; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Cornelius (Liena) Nugteren, Warren Roberts, GA, Marion (Katie) Nugteren, Paw Paw, MI, John Nugteren, New Cariles, IN, Don (Carol) Nugteren, Sioux Falls, SD, and Jim (Jeanette) Nugteren, Canistota, SD; and 3 sister in laws, Karen Nugteren, Monroe, SD, Esther Weeldreyer and Verna Langerock, both of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Ron, a daughter Glenice, a brother Tony, and sisters Johanna, Cornelia, and Gertrude.
