Ione Haddican, 90 of Monroe died Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the Tieszen Memorial Home in Marion. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Friday, December 16, 2022 at the Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home in Parker with visitation starting at 10:00 am. Burial will be at the Monroe Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Tieszen Home Activities Fund. Ione Haddican was born on November 26,1932 to Ben and Anna (Schwertman) Stubbe. She grew up in the Monroe area and was united in marriage to Dale Haddican on April 2, 1959 and he preceded her in death in 1997. For many years she was employed as a cook in the Marion school lunch program and enjoyed all the children. Some of her favorite activities were playing bingo, doing word search puzzles and watching the Vikings. The past few years she was a resident at Tieszen Memorial. Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter Dorothy Esser (Ron), Marceline, MO; 4 Grandchildren Kristin Roth (Michael) Milford IA, Kara Swierk (Mike) Highlands Ranch CO, Dawn Lichtenberg (Jeff) Marceline MO and Renae Gibbs (Don) Dayton NV; 2 Great Grandsons, 1 Great Grand Daughter, 1 Great Great Grandson, Sister-in-Law Nina Stubbe and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale, brothers Alvin, Marvin and Vern, sister Arlene Helgager and special friend Meryl.
