With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Rosemary Heirigs, 84,.

Below, the simplest tribute: the truth of a life as it was lived.

Rosemary entered this world in 1931 — the start of a journey that would span 84 years.

Rosemary held deeply to the Catholic faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew her best.

What Rosemary believed shaped how she loved.

Rosemary Heirigs passed away November 10, 2015 at the St. James/Yankton Care Center. Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Boniface Catholic Church, rural Freeman, SD. Visitation with family present at 7:00pm on Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with scripture service and rosary to follow. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home, Parker. Rosemary was born September 30, 1931 to Patrick and Josephine (Heeb) Logsdon. She graduated from Irene high School, class of '49. She went to Springfield for her Teacher's Certificate and taught at District 37. On June 6, 1950 she married Donald H. Heirigs, the love of her life, at Mayfield Catholic Church. They were blessed with six children and farmed in the Turkey Ridge area for over 60 years. Children were Rosemary's passion and delight. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her creativity, her love for life, family and friends. She worked very hard all her life and made a difference in the lives of many. She loved sewing, gardening, singing, dancing, and traveling with Dad to his Navy reunions and to visit family and friends. She was active in church and community. Grateful to have shared her life are six children: Donna Kennedy of Sacramento, CA; Dr. Thomas (Sheryl) Heirigs of Madison, SD; Carol (Mike) Francis of Prescott, AZ; Steven (Tammy) Heirigs of Burbank, SD; Patrick (Linda) Heirigs of Turkey Ridge, SD; Mary Kay (Rodney) Berg of Williston, ND; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a sister Sylvia Bonine of Jefferson, SD; a brother in law Dale Schooley of Omaha, NE. Precededing her in death was her loving husband Donald in 2011, 3 brothers, Harold, David, and Conrad, 3 sisters Margaret, Eleanor, and Patricia, a son in law, Donald Kennedy, and a grandson John Carl.
