Richard's story began in 1944, and unfolded across the years that followed.

Richard spent his working life as ['Halliburton in Synder and Abilene', 'Honeywell as a technician and a sales rep'] — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Every life leaves an echo in the lives it has known.

Richard "Denny" Wickstrom, 77 of Sioux Falls, passed away on January 21, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 am Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Hofmeister-Jones Funeral Home. The service will be broadcasted at https://www.facebook.com/HofmeisterJonesFuneralHome/ . Richard Dennis Wickstrom was born on December 27, 1944 in Sioux City, IA to Paul H. Wickstrom and Dorothy E. Wickstrom. He grew up in Climbing Hill, IA on the family farm. He graduated from Woodbury Central in Moville, IA in 1963. Denny Joined the United States Navy on October 31, 1963. He served during the Vietnam War on the air craft carrier USS Independence CVA62. He was also stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Following an honorable discharge, he attended Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City graduating with an electronic degree. He worked for Halliburton in Synder and Abilene, TX in the oil fields for 4 years and Zenith in Sioux City for 4 years. He then moved to Sioux Falls and worked for Honeywell as a technician and a sales rep. Denny retired from there after 26 years. Denny had many hobbies. He was an avid golfer, adding 2 hole-in-ones to his golfing career. Denny also was an avid motorcycle rider. He has traveled throughout the continental US and all of the Canadian Provinces. Denny and Dustin spent lots of time together, from wood cutting to playing cards to working Dustin's pit crew. Denny was also a member of the Lions Club and the Central Valley Golf Course in Hartford. He married Lynda Hendrickson in 1996. Denny is survived by his wife Lynda of Sioux Falls; son Dustin (Tanya) of Parker; step-son Nathan Becker, Sioux City, IA; step-daughter Sharene Graham, Howell, MI; 6 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, brother Stan (Judy), Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Doug and sister-in-law Karla.
