Roger Larsen, 80, has gone home, leaving behind a circle of those who loved him.

Born in 1938, Roger began a life that would touch many along the way.

Roger held deeply to the Presbyterian faith — and was, by all accounts, loved by those who knew him best.

Faith is a quiet companion through a long life. Roger's walked beside him.

Hurley, SD. Roger Larsen, 80 died Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home, Viborg. Funeral Services will be t 1:30pm Friday, July 20, 2018 at Harmony Presbyterian Church, Hurley with burial in the Hurley Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7pm Thursday evening at the church with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Arrangements by Hofmeister Jones Funeral Home. Roger Elliott Larsen, 80, passed away with family by his side at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home on July 16th, 2018. Roger was born on March 7th, 1938 to Ole and Mabel (Elliott) Larsen at the family farm. In 1957 he joined the US Army and was stationed in Korea for two years. In 1960 he married Eunice (Wenzlaff) Larsen and were blessed with three children: Lori Linn Larsen (Benson), Lisa Lorain Larsen (Cotting), and the late Lorin Lee Larsen. Roger and his family spent five years in Idaho where he owned his own business. They returned to Hurley, South Dakota in 1970 where he opened his own welding shop. In 1985, he married Helen (Peterson) Larsen and they owned and operated the Windmill Campground for many years. Roger retired in Hurley and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and welding until his stroke. Grateful for having shared his life are: his daughters Lori (Duane) Benson, Lisa (Stephen) Cotting, his grandchildren Daniel (Thresha) Benson, Greg Benson, Kelsi Larsen, Carly Benson, Kristin (Brady) Wiebe, Caitlin (Charlie) Olinger, Logan Larsen and Jordyn Larsen. His great grandchildren Dax and Sadie Benson, Paxton and Maddox Wiebe and Josie Olinger. His sisters Avis (Jim) Georgesen, Miriam (Leroy) Lonning, Lynette Muudeller Osborne. One brother Martin (Barb) Larsen. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lavonne Zeisler and son Lorin Larsen.
